Last fall we made Pumpkin Whoopie Pies and they were one of our favorite treats of the season. Now we kicked it up a notch and made Chocolate Oreo Cookie Whoopie Pies with a vanilla filling. They are just as soft and chewy as the Pumpkin Whoopie Pies.
Whenever it’s time to bake a dessert, Jewels and Heart are all over it! This recipe has become a family favorite and I love that the girls work together to make it for holiday get togethers. Jewels likes to mix everything together and Heart is quick to frost the cookies.
These Oreo Whoopie Pies use a quick recipe using most common baking ingredients. Since we bake so often, we have these ingredients on hand.
The kids will love to help with it and for sure want to lick the bowls. I know Jewels and Heart do every time.
Jewels likes shaping her cookies into different animals or shapes. This can easily be done before you put them in the oven. Just press and move dough into desired shape or put a scoop of dough into a cookie cutter and fill the shape. This dough is a bit on the sticky side so if you find it is too hard to shape, put a dusting of flour on your hands when rolling the dough or shaping it.
These cookies should be stored in an air tight container. We like to put them in the refrigerator so they keep longer but if you plan to eat them the first or second day, leaving them at room temperature is fine.
We hope you have fun making and eating these Oreo Whoopie Pies!
