Our Chatbooks year 2 books have arrived! I started this project in 2018. See our first post for the first book details. Heart was still in diapers! Now I’m on year 4 and it amazes me that I haven’t missed a day of taking a photo of my kids. Wait! I’m on year four but just now printed year 2!?! Yes, I’m guilty. Unfortunately, I am a little behind on printing them but I’m trying my best to catch up. Hey, I’m only human. lol.
For 4 years now, I have taken at least one photo everyday of my kids. Whether it be of them accomplishing something, doing something new or just of them smiling. I keep these photos logged and dated so I can easily add them to my Chatbooks account and do a 365 page book. They are the only company I have found that has such an easy to use system and the books print quality is amazing.
365 pages, 1 photo a day for each kid.
I do one book for each of my girls, each having their own colored spine on their books to tell them apart easily. Each page consists of one image, the number of the image and a short caption. In year 2’s book I numbered them from 1-365 but for the next book I’ve decided to put the actual date. I started my book series in the middle of the year so I found putting the actual date was less confusing when trying to organize and print.
Call me crazy for doing this, but my kids love looking through these when it arrives in the mail and have asked to look through them again numerous times. I strongly believe photos jar ones memory to remember past events. With these photos I hope my kids can remember as far back in their childhood as possible. When I was their age, this technology wasn’t invented yet (oh god, that made me sound old!). Cameras were still 35mm film cameras and to take a photo everyday would of been a nightmare, seeing as how you had to wait till the whole roll of film was done. It wouldn’t of been cheap to have that many pictures printed then too, let alone all the photos that were blurry or black and you couldn’t just press delete and re-take it. Ahhh, how far we’ve come and I’m so grateful for that.
Not Too Late to Start Your Yearbook.
Whatcha waiting for? You can start yearbooks of your own and start today. Just take a photo with your phone, 1 photo a day of your kids. It can be of just them or include other people. The first 2 books were of just my kids but now I’m including people they are with to tell more of their stories.
Create a private instagram, facebook, google photos or flickr account and save your photos there each day with a caption and the date. This will make it easier to upload them to Chatbooks in order and with the captions. Then modify your books as you wish and then print.
