No-Yeast Kids Cheese Pizza

August 24, 2021
Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Our family loves pizza.  We just recently have been trying different recipes like cauliflower pizzas and vegetable pizzas. This one is a new favorite and will surprise you because it has no yeast!   Who knew a pizza crust could be made out of vanilla yogurt?!?   This no-yeast kids cheese pizza is definitely one the kids will love and also love making.

When I was younger I remember making homemade pizzas with my mom and putting on my favorite toppings, usually pineapple and ham.  I loved helping my mom in the kitchen it was just something we did often and still do to this day.  Now getting to share this experience with my own daughters makes times like these of making pizzas, that more special.

This no-yeast kid-friendly pizza is something you can often times make with ingredients you already have in your pantry.  The dough is made of 3 ingredients, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and vanilla yogurt.  Yep, that’s what I said, VANILLA YOGURT!   I love vanilla yogurt, especially the Yoplait Lite Brand. The kids love making parfaits and dipping graham crackers into it.  The rest of the ingredients are your standard pizza sauce and toppings of choice.

It's so easy, the kids can do it.

It’s so easy to make, the kids can do most if not all of the work. Jewels, 7, did this pizza mostly on her own and with just needed help measuring out ingredients.

We always prepare our ingredients or mise en place, which is the French culinary phrase “putting in place” or “everything in its place”.  This makes the process so much faster and easier for the kids to see what is being used and how much of each ingredient they will need.

Feel free to put any cheese, sauce and topping you’d like.  Pesto sauces and soft cheeses make a tasty pizza.  Meanwhile, don’t get stingy on the toppings.  Fruit like pineapple, blueberries, or meats like ham, chicken and hot dog slices will have the kids loving their pizza slices.

Cook times may vary depending on desired crust. For softer crusts, cook 5-10 minutes when sauce and toppings are on and for a crispier crust, cook 10-15 minutes.  Okay, start cooking and enjoy!

No Yeast Cheese Pizza

If you love having the kids help you in the kitchen, this is a perfect recipe for them to get their hands into. Healthy and so yummy, this pizza will have your kids asking to help in the kitchen for every pizza night.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 cups vanilla yogurt
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 10-15 fresh basil leaves dried basil will work too
  • chopped vegetables or meat (optional)
  • extra flour for kneeding
  • olive oil to grease pan

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 425°F
  • Oil pizza pan with a thin layer of olive oil and put in oven to warm while oven is pre-heating.
  • In a mixing bowl, add flour and baking powder and mix with spoon till combined.
  • Make a valley in the center of your flour and add yogurt in the middle. Mix until dough forms.
  • Dust cutting board with extra flour and begin kneeding the dough. If the dough is too sticky, add more flour.
  • When dough is ready, take pizza pan out of oven and put dough on top. Careful with this step as pan will be very hot.
  • Roll out the dough to form an even circle on the pan.
  • Put pan in the oven for 5 minutes to slightly cook the pizza crust. This helps the crust from being too doughy.
  • After 5 minutes, remove pan from oven and spread on the sauce to evenly coat the pizza, leaving an empty ring around the edges of crust.
  • Top with cheese, vegetables, basil and meat of choice.
  • Cook for 10-15 minutes until crust is cooked. For a softer crust, cook 5-10 minutes and for a crispier crust, cook for 10-15.
  • When done, remove from oven and let cool a few minutes before eating. Enjoy!
