2020 hasn’t been the most exciting year for my kids. While staying home hasn’t been a bad thing, I know Jewels and Heart miss things like playing with their friends, going to Disneyland, the Zoo, parties, and shopping with Mom. Since we stay at home most of the time right now, I’ve noticed the kids have started playing with their favorite toys over and over. I thought what a great thing to share with other kids, their 2020 Favorite Quarantine Toy List.
We we first introduced to “We Are In A Book” on the Save with Stories Instagram page ready by J.J. Abrams. Jewels and Heart were obsessed with it and we had to purchase it. It became THE BOOK to read at bedtime and they even started memorizing it so they could read it to each other. We then purchased a few more in the Mo Willems series and Jewels has used them to learn to read and Heart has sharpened her memorizing and word recognition skills by reading these books. Her top favorites are “We Are In A Book“, “Elephants Cannot Dance!” and “Waiting Is Not Easy“.
Jewels got this as her reward for not sucking her thumb anymore AT ALL! It took her a while but she did it and I’m so proud of her. She was so excited she asked me everyday from when I purchased it to when it arrived, “When is my L.O.L doll coming?” She unboxed with the biggest smile and loves to accessorize her.
When Covid-19 quarantine first hit, it was rough. Jewels and Heart had a rough time adjusting and it came to a point of us all just breaking down at night together. Jewels wanted something to make her happy and I agreed. Couldn’t go anywhere or do anything so I told her she could pick one thing off Amazon. Audrey loves the L.A. Zoo and with it being closed for so long, she missed seeing her favorite animal, the Zebra. She picked this out so she could have it with her when she felt sad. It worked like a charm. Miss Zebra is a special plush for Jewels and has helped her through the sadness of Quarantine 2020.
The girls had a little tent for years but over time the wear and tear was telling us all it was time for an upgrade. I spent sometime looking for the perfect tent that had lights, could fit more than one kid and was open for ventilation. The biggest complaint from Jewels and Heart with their first tent was that it was too small and hot. This one was perfect. It had everything I was looking for and was easy to put together.
Jewels is a brain when it comes to brain games on her iPad We started playing this together, her on her iPad and myself on my phone. She quickly passed me in levels and it became quite fun for us to do together. We would sit together when Heart was napping and see who could pass the levels first. Currently she is about 30 levels above me!
