Congratulations! You planned out the perfect family vacation. First, you researched the different cruise lines and found that Disney is the best choice for families (by far). Then you mapped out where you want to go and what sights you want to see. Next, you decided what type of stateroom you wanted. Finally, you booked the trip. But now it’s time to get the 15 items that you absolutely must bring with you on your Disney Cruise. Check out our other post too for the 10 must haves for kids on your Disney Cruise.
If you are prone to seasickness, you’ll want to check this out. While there are cheaper alternatives like Bonine (see below), this won’t make you drowsy. You’re paying a lot for your cruise. You don’t want to spend any moment of it sick or sleepy. This device will send electrical pulses to relieve the effects of seasickness. You can also adjust the level of intensity depending on how you are feeling.
Cruise ships have very few outlets in their staterooms and heavy restrictions on the type of surge protectors you can bring on board. Basically, you can’t bring them. If you try to hide it in your luggage, they will find it. Luckily, most of our devices nowadays are powered by USB. Enter this amazing USB charger. You can power up to six devices using up only one outlet. The best part is that charging multiple devices won’t slow down the charging speed. That point is key. You don’t want to wake up in the morning and find that each of your devices is only powered to 30%.
Whether you are cruising the Bahamas or Alaska, you’ll want a lightweight backpack on your cruise. This backpack is ultra lightweight and won’t weigh you down on those shore excursion days. Pack in some water bottles and some snacks (from the buffet or room service) and you’re good to go for the day. Pack in some pool toys, sunscreen, and shades for pool days onboard. Also, don’t forget that your luggage will not arrive to your room right away on embarkation day. So pack any medicine and other necessities in here to take with you when you walk onboard.
If you are not too concerned about seasickness or don’t want to spend the extra money for the relief band above, it’s still a good idea to have some Bonine as a “just in case” measure. Again, cruises cost a lot of money. You don’t want to spend any part of it feeling sick. Take one of these at the first sign of seasickness and you should be fine for up to 24 hours.
Passports are not yet required on all cruises, but you should still bring them. If for any reason, you get stuck in a foreign port, you will have a very difficult time travelling back home and it will cost you a lot of money. Save yourself the headache and bring them with you. This passport holder can hold all of your family’s passports (up to 5), credit cards, cash, and your phone. It has RFID technology to prevent credit card theft. Also, the long strap and hook make it easy to wear under your shirt for extra protection.
You can’t go on a Disney cruise without some Disney Luggage, right? American Tourister has a great line of Disney themed hardside luggage. These designs are so cute. Of course, there’s also a villains design for all you baddies out there. Also, I can’t tell you enough how much easier travelling is with spinner wheels. Navigating though crowds at the airport is no longer a challenge.
If you’re gonna get some Disney luggage, might as well get some Disney luggage tags to go with it. Make it a his and her set with these Mickey and Minnie luggage tags.
All these doors look the same. Want to know a quick trick that many seasoned cruisers use in order to make it easier to find your stateroom? Decorate your door! The doors on the Disney Cruise ships are metal, so magnets stick to them. Pick up these fun Disney-themed magnets to decorate your door and make it a bit easier for you to find.
Packing for a cruise can be exhausting. By the time you’re done, you’re gonna need a vacation. Use these space saver bags to create more room in your luggage. Remember that you can also do laundry on board, so you don’t need to bring everything with you. Plus, you are going to want to leave some empty space for all of those souvenirs.
One of the many cool things that you can do on a Disney Cruise is participate in a fish extender gift exchange. Basically, you place these hanging pockets on the fish decor outside your stateroom. Then you swap gifts with other people that are doing the same thing. This should be pre-planned with other families and groups that you find in a facebook group for your particular sailing.
Cruising is coming back. However, the reality is that we are still in a pandemic and cruise lines will have strict policies regarding masks for at least another year. These mask holders come in handy when you want to eat, snack, or go in the pool. It’s a convenient and clean way to store your mask.
If you are going to spend any time if the pool, you’ll want to get one of these. You can easily string it along anywhere in your stateroom to hang up wet clothes.
If you have cruised with Disney before, they will give you a lanyard. But if this is your first time cruising, you will want to pick one up before your cruise. At embarkation, you will receive a Key to the World card that is your room key and credit card for any purchases onboard. It is also required every time you leave and return to the ship. So you want to keep it on you at all times and have it easily accessible. Any lanyard will do, but this is Disney, so Mickey and Minnie lanyards seem appropriate.
14. Lightweight Jackets
Cruise weather can change in an instant. It can be hot one minute, then a chilly breeze starts up and suddenly it’s cold and raining. You’ll want a waterproof lightweight jacket or windbreaker to protect you from the ever changing elements. These jackets are perfect for the changing conditions.
Pictures, or it didn’t happen. Vacations are all about the memories. So you’ll want to document those memories in order to be able to look back on these precious moments. These lenses easily attach to your iphone in order to take high quality pictures using just your smartphone. No need to pack extra camera gear and expensive, bulky lenses. These photos come out looking just as great.
